THE SLOW SCIENCE OF HANG-DRYING & CURING
PATIENCE MAKES PERFECT
Curing is a process built on patience. It’s the art of doing less so nature can do more. From our unique hybrid greenhouse in Leamington, Ontario, to your grinder, every step after harvest –from hang-drying to hand-manicuring to slow curing – is designed to preserve trichomes, terpenes, and ensure homogeneous moisture content. This results in flower with remarkable aroma, flavour and potency that smokes smooth and burns beautifully. Because when it comes to growing quality flower without gimmicks, time is an essential ingredient.
HANG DRYING
After carefully harvesting each plant by hand, branches are carefully hung to dry in small batches under controlled temperature, airflow and humidity. Drying slowly and evenly preserves trichomes and protects the plant’s natural terpene profile. The difference is subtle but unmistakable: buds that keep their shape, deliver a richer aroma, and burn smooth every time.
Once the flower reaches its ideal texture, it undergoes a gentle first pass in a precision tumble that removes excess leaves while protecting delicate resin heads. We then remove each bud by hand and hand-manicure them to perfection, preserving density, trichomes, and character. It’s an approach that blends innovative technology with human touch, ensuring every hand-packaged bag of flower delivers consistency and the full expression of each cultivar’s potential.
SLOW CURING
The cure is where the magic happens. Once dried and hand-manicured, our flower is transferred to containers in a climate-controlled environment for at least four weeks. This allows moisture to homogenize within each batch while natural enzymes continue to break down chlorophyll, residual starches, and sugars. This means you get to enjoy a cleaner burn, a smoother draw, and a more pronounced flavour. It also makes the flower microbially stable, providing improved shelf life.
Throughout the cure, our grow team monitors temperature and humidity daily to improve consistency from batch to batch. The process may take longer, but we firmly believe it makes for great cannabis. As the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait, and at South Point, that philosophy lives in every hand-packed bag. From first to final puff, you’ll taste the difference that patience makes.
